As a team, we are working hard to make a difference. We have acknowledged the issues in the industry, that’s why our promise to you is to become a fully sustainable brand by 2025.
At AMOS our lead designer is working hard to introduce organic cotton into the range in SS22. This passion for change is paired back with selecting collection colours (dyes) that are less harmful to the environment.
Did you know:
- Textile dyeing is the world's second-largest polluter of water since the water leftover from the dyeing process is often dumped into ditches, streams, or rivers. The dyeing process uses enough water to fill 2 million Olympic-sized swimming pools each year.
- Organic cotton uses natural processes and fertilizers that are free from toxic chemicals or GMOs (genetically modified organisms). Regular cotton is one of the most heavily polluting crops, using 16% of the world’s insecticides and 10% of the world’s pesticides. These nasties can harm the land, poison water, and endanger the people and wildlife that rely on these resources.
That is why we have chosen to work with organic cotton throughout our range, that is sustainably produced.
By 2025 our founder’s goal is to open a sustainable factory in Sri Lanka to produce not only our collections but also others.
Why Sri Lanka?
Did you know that Sri Lanka has a rich history trading cotton with other countries, dating back over 3000 years! Plus Sri Lanka is 1 of the top 10 producers of organic cotton in the world! That is why we have chosen it as our sustainable country of origin.
